Wrought Iron and Copper Log Bin*
Item Description
Super Arts & Crafts copper log or coal box, the combination corner supports and legs made of iron as are the two side handles.
The front, each side and the lid are embellished with a repoussé design detail, the front and lid being further decorated with a colourful ceramic cabochon inset into the centre.
A hammered finish is showing on the four legs and feet which are wrapped around the corners and rivetted in place.
Sturdy iron ring handles with decorative back plates are firmly attached to each side.
Although there are a few minor dinks and marks to the copper, it is in good condition, commensurate with age, and the hinged lid closes squarely – which is not always the case with these old copper boxes.
It’s a shame some misguided individual has started to clean one corner of the lid before having second thoughts, but in time this should blend in again.
The overall height is around 35 cm and the measurement at the feet is just over 33 cm square. Width between the handles is approximately 49 cm.
