Terracotta Young Maiden*
Item Description
Good size Art Nouveau terracotta bust of a young lady with a ribbon tied in her upswept auburn hair.
With her pale skin, fine detail to her features and gilding to her dress and ribbon, this is a quality piece and, although not marked as such, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it was cast by the Goldscheider company. It certainly has many of the hallmarks of that producer, and even the number on the back is similar in character, although it is not listed in either of the usual reference books.
The artist’s signature is a little indistinct but looks to read as Morin or possibly Marin.
In good condition with just a few minor age related marks, mainly to the base. Approximately 62 cm in height and marked verso 7/5415.
Dating from circa 1895-1905.
