Swiss Silver ‘Wave’ Box*
Item Description
Good size hammered silver box on four rounded feet with a distinctive ‘wave’ design mirrored on the front and back of the gently domed hinged lid.
We believe it to be of Swiss origin and have it on good authority that it dates from the 1930’s.
A twisted rope pattern runs all around the top of the box immediately beneath the lid.
The interior is lined with what appears to be African padouk or possibly another timber stained to a similar colour. It is divided into three compartments.
Very well made and extremely stylish.
Marked beneath for 835 silver and showing the number 16, the box is 21.5 cm wide, 14.5 deep and stands approximately 5.5 cm high.
We have only seen one of these before, in a smaller size.
