Skønvirke Brooch by Georg Halling*
Item Description
Danish Skønvirke silver brooch designed by Georg A. Halling (b. 1866).
Crafted in the form of a garland of stylised leaves and flowers surrounding a central polished amber cabochon, with another small flower suspended below forming the drop.
Also set with little moonstones, one in each of the three flowers and another right at the top.
Marked in two places on the back with the initials GAH, both on their own and within a shield. Also marked with the initials DA (for Dansk Arbejde) and the hammer of Thor within a shield, denoting that it was hand crafted in Denmark, and for 830 silver.
Dating from circa 1915 with a width of 7 cm and a length, including the drop, of just a fraction below 8.5 cm.
