Silver Necklace with Mother-of-Pearl and Moonstones
Item Description
Very lovely English Arts & Crafts silver necklace with a large central mother-of-pearl plaque framed by silver wirework detail decorated with little silver balls.
This central feature is suspended on two pairs of short chains below smaller side attachments in the same style, each set with a moonstone cabochon.
A third moonstone set in silver forms the drop to complete an ornate and elegant design.
The chosen mother of pearl component has obviously been selected with great care and is very three-dimensional with good, dark colour.
We include a photo of the back of the necklace which illustrates the typical Arts & Crafts care and attention to detail that has been taken with the crafting of this piece which, we have been informed on very good authority, can be attributed to the Birmingham School.
All the chainwork is original including the toggle type fastener.
The central section measures 7 cm in length, including the drop and, opened out, the necklace has a total length of approximately 42 cm.
