Silver Gilt Locket*
Item Description
Rare and unusual silver gilt locket with additional attachments all connected to the original chain.
The back of the locket is removeable and has provision for a photograph to be inserted. Behind this part is a cavity for the safe-keeping of a small memento or keepsake as required.
A concealed hook behind the bale enables the locket itself to be turned the other way if preferred.
Dating from the 1940’s, this is an extremely stylish piece that was made in Malta and bears the mark of the Maltese Cross together with the silver content mark of 950 – purer than sterling.
The chain and attachments when opened out measure a length of 42 cm and the locket is approximately 5 X 4 cm.
