Silver Gilt and Enamel Necklace*
Item Description
Wonderful necklace almost certainly by Marius Hammer.
Crafted in silver gilt and with decoration in coloured enamels, this is an extremely stylish and complex design of stylised flowers and leaves.
Three short chains are suspended from the neck chain, each supporting a little box framing a flower. Beneath this element, two further lengths of chain are attached to an openwork central floral motif with three elegant and ornate drops completing the design. Close examination reveals even more detail and fine craftsmanship.
Marked on the reverse with a somewhat indistinct maker’s mark although we have had the necklace confirmed as a Marius Hammer piece by three reputable dealers.
There are two or three missing enamel dots to the floral motif which must have been lost over the years, but it should be no problem for these to be replaced by a competent enameller if desired. Otherwise the necklase is in excellent condition.
Dating from around 1900. The neckchain has a length of approximately 49cm. The total length of the suspension is around 12 cm.
