Silver and Enamel Pendant by C F Varley*
Item Description
English Arts & Crafts pendant comprising a circular enamelled landscape scene mounted in a silver frame.
Two trees are all but silhouetted aginst an evening sky with the golden glow of a stunning sunset reflected in the water below.
At the foot an abalone drop set in silver perfectly complements the colours used in the enamel picture.
Above, a shaped silver wire design connects to a dedicated bale.
A quite beautifully enamelled tranquil scene that is so Charles Fleetwood Varley to whom it is confidently attributed.
Typical of the enamelled jewellery that Varley produced for Liberty’s from 1907 when he left the Guild of Handicraft following its closure.
Just a touch over 7 cm including the bale and drop. The diameter of the pendant is 3.5 cm.
