Sibyl Dunlop Pendant & Earrings*
Item Description
Silver pendant necklace and matching earrings set, unmarked but quite clearly by Sibyl Dunlop.
The pendant, which resembles a spinning Catherine wheel frozen in time, is set with shaped green chrysoprase, red dyed chalcedony cabochons and amethysts, both shaped and in cabochon, all surrounding a centrally set oval mother-of-pearl plaque.
Little silver beaded strips follow the curves of the outer three amethysts, giving the design its clear sense of movement.
At the foot a mother-of-pearl drop surrounded by a beaded border echoes the pendant’s central feature.
The earrings are in two sections, the top half in the form of an extended triangle which links to a heart-shaped lower section, complementing the pendant perfectly.
Circa 1930, the pendant measures a touch over 8 cm long, including its drop, with the splendid Arts & Crafts necklace chain having a total length of approximately 80 cm.
The earrings are just under 5 cm long, measured from the little ring at the top.
