Silver and Amethyst Brooch
Item Description
Striking and very three-dimensional brooch crafted in 800 silver.
Very well contoured, with a semi openwork design and set in the centre with a fine faceted amethyst.
The silver-work features stylised acanthus leaves which surround and frame the central stone and further detail is added with the setting of eight cultured pearls.
Marked for 800 silver on the pin which suggests it might be Scandinavian in origin although we cannot be sure.
Also on the pin is an indistinct maker’s mark.
Circa 1920’s/30’s and a good size at just a touch below 8 cms. in width.
