‘Ondine’ by Campagne
Item Description
Lovely Austrian terracotta bust of a mythological water nymph titled ‘Ondine’.
She has a captivating look and appears to have just emerged from below the water, with lily flowers and leaves in her hair and longer leaves partially covering her body. Beautifully executed and painted in subtle shades of green and brown.
Dating from around 1895-1900 and signed to one side by the artist Campagne (Pierre Etienne Daniel Campagne, French, 1851-1910).
On close examination, part of one of the leaves appears to have been restored, but overall the condition is very good with just a tiny chip to the flower in her hair. Height is 53.5 cm.
