Necklace and Earrings Set attr. to Bernard Instone
Item Description
Splendid necklace and earrings set crafted in the Arts & Crafts style, dating from around 1930.
Made in silver, the necklace comprises five graduated claw set oval faceted amethysts alternating with matching openwork silver plaques, square in outline with rounded corners. Each of these is decorated with a leafy design surrounding a circular collet set amethyst.
The earrings are circular, each with four sets of leaflets surrounding a fine amethyst.
Originally fitted with screw type fasteners, but these were somewhat past their sell-by date and we’ve had them replaced with studs.
No maker’s marks but attributed to Bernard Instone, the set displaying the typical hallmarks of his work.
The necklace measures 45 cm in length overall, with the decorative section 14.5 cm wide. The earrings are 1.5 cm in diameter.
