Murrle Bennett Silver Locket*
Item Description
Hammered silver locket with a discreet removeable intaglio cameo set in a dark amber coloured stone centre.
A classic shape with overlapping layers of silver, cut out shaped detail and an oval gold mount for the cameo.
A green agate cabochon is set at the top with a smaller matching stone forming the drop.
Turn the locket over and the door can be opened for the insertion of a photo or keepsake either at the back of the cameo or as a replacement for it.
Suspended on a triple chain arrangement above which are two small oval hammered silver attachments with little studded detail, matching the same detail seen towards the base of the pendant.
Marked on the reverse with the Murrle Bennett maker’s mark and the high silver content of 950.
The length from the top of the side attachments to the bottom of the drop is approximately 9.5 cm.
The chainwork matches throughout and the necklace chain is fitted with a barrel type clasp. Early 1900’s.
