Marius Hammer Enamelled Necklace*
Item Description
Ornate festoon necklace attributed to Marius Hammer but unmarked.
The openwork frame of the pendant is gilded and shaped into swirls with a five pronged fanned comb above, accented with tiny blue enamelled dots on the tips. Also with a detail of three pearly enamelled ‘cabochons’.
Below the main body of the pendant are hung four drops, the larger central one being triangular in shape and incorporating further swirls and blue enamelled dots.
Pearl like silvery enamelled balls hang below the three longer drops, with the smaller pear shaped enclosed drop also decorated with the same enamel.
The chainwork is ungilded silver, showing a partial sterling mark on the clasp.
The pendant is approximately 10.5 cm long as measured from the bale, and the chain has a length of around 46 cm.
