Marius Hammer Enamelled Brooch*
Item Description
Openwork silver-gilt festoon brooch with vivid green enamelling to the main element and all the circular and teardrop shaped droppers.
Unusually, there is added detail of plique-à-jour enamelling in the same shade of green, set in the series of small circles in the ornate scrollwork design both above and below the main oval.
This is a feature we’ve not come across before in brooches by Marius Hammer and it certainly adds an extra elegance.
A quite delightful brooch from around 1900 or thereabouts that moves with the wearer.
Maker’s mark and silver content both clearly marked on the back. Just a touch under 8 cm in length.
