Little Girl and Fox Terrier*
Item Description
Ceramic figure of a little girl and her pet fox terrier by Claire Weiss for Goldscheider of Vienna.
Standing on a black oval socle, she’s dressed in a blue and white checked dress and a very fetching blue bonnet, leaning forward and looking down towards the dog, holding its paws as it jumps up to greet her.
Claire Weiss sculpted a number of these cute little girl and her dog figures, all slightly different but all equally appealing.
Circa 1935, model number 7278/327/20 and with the usual Goldscheider markings together with the artist’s signature beneath.
The height is just a fraction over 21 cm.
Lit. Dechant/Goldscheider p. 454.
