Le Verre Francais Cameo Glass Bowl
Item Description
Very fine Art Deco cameo glass bowl from the Schneider Glassworks under their Le Verre Francais banner.
This was a range of designs specially made at the time for high end retail stores in Paris and other major cities of the world.
Circular and fairly deep for its size, rising gently outwards before narrowing more accutely towards the top.
Three slow moving geckos surround the bowl, each one hunting down the dragonflies that are gathered towards the opening. Their long tails and back legs are seen against a darker stylised stony backdrop.
The rich red brown colour of the subjects contrasts beautifully with the mottled yellow background of the bowl.
Circa 1920’s and just a touch over 11 cm high by approximately 16.5 cm wide. The opening has a diameter of a little over 7 cm.
Signed Le Verre Francais towards the foot.
