‘Le Sommeil’ by Madrassi*
Item Description
Gorgeous Art Nouveau bronze sculpture dating from circa 1880 by the Italian artist and sculptor Luca Madrassi (1848-1919), correctly titled ‘Le Sommeil’ but sometimes also known as ‘Sleeping Nymph’.
The subject is a young semi-nude female quietly sleeping with her head resting against the bough of an old tree.
Double patinated and quite beautiful viewed from any angle, with superb attention to detail.
Mounted on a circular marble base, the overall size is approximately 50 cm high by 34 wide and 30 cm deep. Diameter of the base is around 25 cm.
