French Art Nouveau Silver and Amber Ring*
Item Description
Striking French Art Nouveau silver ring set with a large oval amber cabochon.
All around the edges and down the shoulders of the ring, fine ornate wirework sinuously sweeps and curls, whiplash fashion, rather in the manner of the long tresses so often depicted on the Art Nouveau maidens of the period. Little silver dots can also be seen randomly interspersed amongst the design detail.
The double shank has French silver marks and also shows the letters MEK, presumably the initials of the maker but whose identity we are unable to find.
U.K. ring size ‘P’ and showing a slight historical knock to one part of the amber, near to the edge, as can be seen in the photos.
