French Art Nouveau Necklace by Arnould*
Item Description
Necklace in 18 ct. gold by the French Art Nouveau jeweller Edouard Aimé Arnould who was active between 1899 and circa 1945.
Arnould specialized in gold Art Nouveau jewellery with a floral and or foliate theme and this is a fine example of his design flair and craftsmanship.
Known as his ‘Monnaie du Pape’ necklace and depicting the seed pods of what we in England call Honesty or Linaria, the pods of which are flat and semi transluscent.
With a central cluster of three and pairs on each side further along the chain, all finely detailed on the reverse side, this necklace with its lightness of look captures the Art Nouveau movement so well.
Marked Arnould at the base of the central pod and also showing French gold assay marks.
Circa 1905-1910 and with an opened out length of 43 cms.
