Art Nouveau Gold and Enamel Brooch Pendant*
Item Description
Exceptional French Art Nouveau 18 ct. gold brooch and/or pendant in the form of a spray of flowers and leaves of iris, one of the favourite flowers of the Art Nouveau artists.
With a completely balanced design, quite beautiful enamelling and superb craftsmanship evident throughout, this truly is a stand-out piece.
Noticeably three-dimensional, with the long strappy leaves curving and winding both over and under themselves, and the subtle pastel enamelling to the flowers is amongst the best we’ve seen.
The brooch pin at the back is removable via a clever little mechanism, enabling it to be worn as a pendant at any time once a chain has been passed through the opening at the top.
We acquired it in its fitted Collingwood jewellers box but without a chain so we’ve photographed it on an 18 ct. chain that we happened to have. This can be supplied with the brooch if desired for £150.
No maker’s mark apparent but showing French gold marks and measuring 4.2 cms. wide by 4.5 high.
