Four-Handled Silver Bowl with Abalone Decor
Item Description
Stylish silver bowl from the height of the Art Deco era, with a definite Liberty look about it although this particular example is stamped beneath with a retailer’s mark for Bracher & Sydenham of Reading.
Circular in shape, embellished with four oval framed abalone cabochons that really catch the eye.
Raised on a circular base decorated with seashells above a flared foot. The four handles curve out and upwards, joining the foot to the main body of the bowl which has a gilded interior.
Hallmarked for 1929 and made by the Birmingham silversmiths S. Blanckensee & Sons Ltd who were in business between 1894 and 1939.
The overall diameter is a little over 22 cm and the opening at the top of the bowl is a touch under 20 cm. Height is 16 cm. Weighing in at 1180 gms.
