Enamelled Silver Gilt Necklace*
Item Description
Elegant silver-gilt Victorian necklace with an upright oval semi-openwork plaque guilloché enamelled in a pale shade of mauve, edged with little sprigs of leaves on the inside and bordered with tiny seed pearls all around the outside.
In the centre is set a nicely convex mother-of-pearl oval.
This main feature is suspended on four short chains from a pair of mother-of-pearl side attachments connecting to the necklace chain, and two Mississippi pearl drops hang from the sides.
Completing the piece is a central drop formed from two linked bell-shapes, each decorated with seed pearls, suspending a circular disc set with mother-of-pearl.
Dating from circa 1890 and with the main feature measuring a fraction below 5.5 cm to the bottom of the centre drop.
