Elegant Lady in an Open Top Cab*
Item Description
Striking oil painting on canvas of an elegant young Parisian woman riding in an open top horse-drawn cab along the Rue Royale in Paris.
Finely attired in the fashion of the early 1900’s and holding a large bouquet of flowers she makes a quite delightful study, typifying the opulence enjoyed by those fortunate enough to have enjoyed the heady times of the Belle Époque era before the First World War.
Painted by the French artist Victor Guerrier (born Lyon 1893) who made a speciality of this genre, his freeflowing style of painting suiting it perfectly and prices for works by him are steadily moving upwards.
Signed V. Guerrier at lower right, the framed size is approximately 89 X 76 cm. with the visible canvas area 71.5 X 58.5 cm.
