Dark Patinated Copper Box*
Item Description
Arts & Crafts dark patinated copper box with an extra large Ruskin type ceramic cabochon set in the centre of the lid, which slightly overhangs the front and sides .
Made with a good guage of copper, the front, back and sides are undecorated with only the lid being hammered. A pair of short strapwork style hinges, ending in an arrowhead design, attach the lid to the body of the box.
Four sturdy shaped and angled feet are riveted to the corners, raising the box an inch or so.
The interior is unlined and quite possibly may always have been.
Overall width is 19.5 cm and the depth just below 14 cm. The box is 6.5 cm high, and a little higher to the top of the cabochon which has a diameter of 5 cm. Unmarked.
