Copper, Brass and Enamel Box*
Item Description
Super little Art Nouveau copper box with a somewhat Secessionist style look about it, dating from the late 1800’s.
Made principally of copper but strengthened with riveted brass corners which also form the legs and feet.
Quite tall for its size and with a domed, hinged lid showing multi-coloured enamelling detail either side of a central stylised leafy motif. The lid is further embellished by having a brass edge, contrasting effectively with the copper.
The interior together with the underside of the lid is lined with red velvet which is quite possibly original.
In good condition, commensurate with age, with just a couple of minor ‘dinks’ to the right-hand side of the top, as can be seen in our photos. We haven’t been tempted to clean it, preferring to leave this as an option for the new owner.
Approximately 13 cm wide and 8.5 deep with the splayed feet and the overhang of the lid adding a touch more to the overall size. Height is around 10.5 cm
