Brooch Pendant attr. to Amy Sandheim*
Item Description
English Arts & Crafts silver pendant and/or brooch that, although unmarked, we feel sure is from the workshop of Amy Sandheim who was active as a jeweller between around 1915 until the late 1930’s.
As with many of the Arts & Crafts jewellers of those times, Amy often used whatever she could lay her hands on to ply her craft and this squared cross looks to have possibly been adapted from something else. Nevertheless, it is none the poorer for that.
With contoured openwork silver forming the four points of the cross, each of the four sections being marked sterling.
Set with green and smoky blue chalcedony stones, four in a heart shape between each point.
The lovely hand-made necklace chain attaches to a pair of fixed rings via little hooks and is easily removable should it be preferred at any time to wear it as a brooch.
Measuring 7.5 cms. high and 7 cms. wide with the long necklace chain having a length of approximately 70 cms.
