Arts & Crafts Silver and Gold Pendant with Gemstones
Item Description
Large and very impressive, probably English, Arts & Crafts pendant with a somewhat Austrian look about it although we cannot be completely sure as there are no marks apparent.
Very well executed and obviously by an extremely competent craftsman/craftswoman, mainly in silver but with three of the leaves that rise from the base of the circular frame, in gold.
Assorted gemstones, some faceted and other en cabochon, are set just inside the outer rim in almost random fashion.
These surround the leaves, some of which are long and strappy, with smaller, arrow shaped leaves in between.
The dedicated hinged bale reflects the detail on the collet setting seen around some of the stones, adding to the considerable thought that has gone into the overall design.
A good size at 5 cm in diameter and on a splendid Art Nouveau necklace chain measuring 68 cm in length.
