Gold Arts & Crafts Pendant Necklace with Opals
Item Description
Ornately designed Arts & Crafts pendant necklace crafted in 9 ct. gold.
The wirework frame shows a detail of little gold beads on the outside edge and encloses heart-shaped leaves on long, winding stems.
Set in the centre is a nicely coloured opal with four smaller opals at north, south, east and west.
The edges of a ring of pearls which are set just inside the frame on the back, can be seen between the leaves.
At the foot of the pendant is a central opal drop flanked by two smaller drops that we thought were sapphires but test on our gem tester as blue topaz.
A similar stone is set in the surmount above, from which the pendant is suspended on two short lengths of chain.
Just a little below 6 cms. long including the bale and the opal drop, with the necklace chain having a length of 40 cms.
No maker’s mark but marked on the back for 9 ct. gold.
