Art Nouveau Zsolnay Card Tray
Item Description
A rare Art Nouveau Eosin glazed visiting card tray from Zsolnay Pécs of Hungary.
Designed for them by Miklos Pfilf circa 1913 and modelled as a pigeon perched on one side of the dish, interestedly looking over towards a snail which is slowly moving across the surface. The interior is covered entirely with a floral and foliate design
Lovely colours, combining as they do a base of yellowy gold with the typical Zsolnay electric green irridescence and even flashes of fuschia when the light catches.
Marked beneath and in good condition with a just little light wear to the glaze on one part of the edge of the rim (see photos).
The diameter across the widest part of the bowl is 25 cm and the bird's tail feathers add a touch of extra width overall. Height is approximately 12 cm.
