Art Nouveau Silver Hand Mirror*
Item Description
Delightful Art Nouveau silver hand mirror hallmarked Chester 1901.
The oval bevelled mirror plate is closely contained inside a silver frame which tapers elegantly downwards to form the handle.
On the back is a design in relief of flowers and a young maiden, her long hair swirling around her shoulders and her head topped with a crown.
Flowers and leaves of iris together with other whiplash detail, set against a partially textured background, complete a strong design that is so very Art Nouveau.
Showing the maker’s mark of William Neale and measuring 27 cm long overall by 11 cm wide.
There is a small dink in the silver frame, right at the top end, which we have shown in a close-up photo, but feel this can be forgiven in view of the overall condition which is otherwise very good.
