Art Nouveau Silver and Gold Locket*
Item Description
French Art Nouveau locket made from silver with additional gold detail, dating from the late 1800’s.
Rectangular in shape, softened at the corners with little double curves and depicting on the front a bird flying after a butterfly. A six-petalled flower has been applied in silver, giving a three-dimensional look and the face also shows very fine etched detail.
Opening reveals two rectangular compartments. The blue paper beneath the clear covers was there when we acquired it but could quite easily be changed if thought necessary.
The locket measures 4.25 cm long by just under 3 cm wide and is in good condition with just a couple of small scratches which even the camera hasn’t picked up.
On an old and quite heavy box type silver chain measuring 61 cm in length.
