Art Nouveau Repoussé Decorated Casket*
Item Description
Impressively sized Arts & Crafts copper covered wooden casket decorated in typical Art Nouveau style with a repoussé design of stylised flowers and leaves of iris.
Standing on four raised feet, with an arched lid hinged at the back and angled in such a way that the box is deeper at the back than at the front.
Set centrally into the top of the lid on each side is a large faceted green glass stone with two smaller stones set further towards each end.
The interior is lined with a deep red satin type material decorated with little soft green dots, and further green glass stones are attached close to the corners.
Fitted with a working lock and still with the original key.
Early 1900’s, measuring a fraction under 30 cm wide, 16 cm deep and around 22.5 cm high.
