Art Deco Nude
Item Description
Unusual Art Deco sculpture of a nude woman seated on a naturalistic rock and unselfconciously soaking up the sun.
There is a rather charming naïvety about the execution of this figure, with regard to both the modelling and the finishing, which accounts for its individual and very appealing character. We’ve certainly not come across another like it.
Mounted on a black painted solid Pine base and dating from around 1930.
Offered to us by an Austrian dealer who was uncertain if it originated in his own country or possibly Germany. The artist is unknown and we can find no marks.
In generally good condition with a small repair having been made to one of the lady’s fingers at some stage. The base measures 34 X 17.5 cm and the overall height is approximately 38 cm.
