French Art Nouveau Gold and Plique-à-Jour Pendant*
Item Description
Exquisite French Art Nouveau pendant crafted in 18 ct. gold featuring a central open flower enamelled in hues of deep pink shading to golden yellow towards the centre which is set with a little diamond accent.
The flower stands on a long gold stem which branches off at each side to carry green enamelled leaves.
The fine and very detailed gold open areas are filled with plique-à-jour enamelling in a pearly off-white shade which results in the perfect background and the pendant is completed with a natural pearl suspended at the foot to form the drop.
Attention to detail can also be seen on the back of the pendant which is finely etched with a floral and foliate design – just another example of the care that has gone into the crafting of this delightful piece.
Dating from circa 1900 and measuring just over 5.5 cms. long including the bale and the drop.
The optional 9 ct. gold necklace chain has a length of 47 cms. If not required, the price would be reduced by £100.
