Angel Brooch attr. to Joe Descomps
Item Description
French Art Nouveau brooch in 18 ct. gold depicting the full face portrait of a n angel, her wings rising up of both sides and completing the circular outline where they meet at the top.
Her gold rimmed halo is enamelled in an ivory shade, behind which radiates a background in reddish brown enamel.
Beautifully crafted with superb detail in high relief but with no maker’s mark apparent but firmly attributed to the French sculptor and jewellery maker Joe Descomps (18
French gold marks can be seen on the ‘C’ clasp and the brooch is also marked Depose.
Approximately 3.5 cm high by a little over 3 cm wide.
